9/11 Memorial Sports Center

Located in the Pitkin Community Center at 30 Greenfield Street. This Sports Center was built in memory of Richard M. Keane and two other Wethersfield residents who died in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11/2001. It includes a gym, fitness room, and meeting room with wireless internet access and a Smart Board.

This area also displays steel recovered from the ruins of the World Trade Center. One piece of steel is located outside the main entrance to the Memorial Sports Center and the other piece of steel is located inside on the east wall of the gymnasium.

The Keane Foundation and Parks & Recreation offer many programs in this facility. The meeting room and gym may be rented. Adults can use the gym for walking at no cost on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8 to 9 a.m.
