Keane Enrichment Program Showcase

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Keane Enrichment Showcase. We appreciate everyone’s continued support of the Richard M. Keane Foundation. We were so glad everyone got to experience some of the enrichment programs we provide to the children in the Wethersfield Elementary Schools both during the school day and after school. Afterschool programs have become important post-pandemic to enhance social and emotional skills lost during COVID.

This event was a part of the annual Lights On Afterschool, a nationwide celebration of afterschool programs. The Keane Kids Enrichment Program Showcase is one of more than 8,000 sites nationwide sending the message that afterschool is key to children’s success and that we must keep the lights on and doors open after school. Parents, media, employers, neighbors, school officials, and others were invited to help us rally support for safe, stimulating after-school programs. Our event included demonstrations and hands-on activities from some of our enrichment providers, including CT Science Center, The Music Team, and Hartford Stage to name a few. There were short performances throughout the night from some of our elementary students who starred in one of our 5 elementary school musicals this past spring. Pizza from Village Pizza and Main Street Creamery Ice Cream was there for all.
