Keane On Kid's After School Program
Please Tell Us About Your Experience With Our After School Program
We are conducting a survey about our after school program. Please take a couple of minutes and share your experiences and opinions by completing a short questionnaire. We will be using this information to evaluate and improve our after school programs. Use this link to TAKE OUR SURVEY
After School Programs are held Monday and Tuesdays for grades 3-6 at the 9/11 Memorial Sports Center, with transportation from all Elementary Schools in Wethersfield provided.
2016 After School Program Dates:
Feb 1 - March 15 & March 28 - May 10
Those who enroll in the Keane Foundation program can start their homework, have a snack and spend hours of fun in the Gym and on Computers in the Classroom. Staff includes teachers as well as Recreation Professionals.
The program is supported by the Keane Foundation and the Parks and Recreation Department. The program provides friendship, fun and sports. In the past children have participated in Campardy (like Jeopardy, including stage and buzzers to signal that they have the answer); CT Science Center programs; visited with Police Department Canines and joined Zumba exercise classes.
More interesting enrichment activities are planned for this year.
Parents and children have loved this program and have given high marks in evaluations, with comments from parents like “My son just absolutely loves your program. Thank you for everything!” And from the kids: “Keane on Kids Rocks!,” “I love Kickball,” and “Campardy is awesome!”
Registration is required and space is limited, so sign up early!
Come join the fun after school on Mondays and Tuesdays starting February 1 through May 10. Children may sign up for one day or for both days. There will be no make up days for any cancellations. No after school sessions on : 2/15,2/16,4/11,4/12.

Saturday Free Open Gym - Drop In!
The Keane Foundation with the support of the Parks and Recreation Department proudly offers FREE Open Gym at the Pitkin Community Center 9/11 Memorial Sports Complex on Saturdays through April 2nd.
(No basketball February 13, March 26, 2016)
Open gym days will be for “Pickup” games of basketball only, not for team practice. Boys and girls are invited to play, however, supervisors will determine the division of play. Families are encouraged to drop in and enjoy a game together as well. In addition to basketball recreation staff members will offer Dodgeball, Kickball, Wiffleball , Hockey and more...
The program is Free, all participants must have a signed permission slip when dropped off, children without the permission slip will not be permitted to play.
All children must be picked up at the time that their age group finishes play.
10:30am - 12:00pm Grades K - 3
12:30pm - 2:00pm Grades 4 - 6
2:00pm - 3:30pm Middle School

3rd Annual Keane Foundation Running Club Starts April
The third annual Keane Foundation Running Club will return to all 5 Wethersfield Elementary Schools for children in grades 3-6 starting in April.
The program teaches children how to develop their endurance, set goals and promote self-esteem. Last year children of all running abilities progressed from their current level to completing a 5k (3.1miles).
Keane Foundation Kid’s Vacation Gym Day Program
Wednesday April 13, 2016
Back by popular demand, please join us on Wednesday April 13, 2016 for a fun filled day at the 9/11 Memorial Center (at the Pitkin Community Center). Children can visit with old friends and make new friends during the vacation.
KIDS VACATION GYM DAY’S have become an exciting destination for kids during vacation! Each day starts with toddler’s activities like tunnel games or parachute games. 4-7 Year olds move on to Freeze Tag, Kick Ball and Basketball, and 8 and older kids get to use the computer room, play Dodge Ball, Street Hockey and of course Basketball. This year the ever popular rainbow loom bracelets, board games and computers have been fun for those who choose not to play in the gym.
Pre-registration is required and space is limited, so watch for flyers through the schools and in the Parks and Recreation brochures. Or register early by calling 860-721-2950.
The fee is $1.00 per child additional donations are welcome!

Drop your child off for some free play and organized games like Kick Ball, Basketball, Freeze Tag and other fun games!
1:00pm. - 3:00 pm. : 8 to 12 year olds. (Max 60)
Drop your child off for Basketball, Dodge Ball, try Boxing and other games in the gym. Also, the Computer Room will be open for Computer fun.
ALL SESSIONS ARE FOR THE INDICATED AGES ONLY!
KEANE FOUNDATION TO EXTEND PROGRAMS
The Keane Foundation has been blessed with the support of the community in all of our fund raising efforts, and with assistance of the Town of Wethersfield and the State of Connecticut as well. As The Keane Foundation goes into our 15th year of enrichment programs for children in the community, we have chosen to support other programs whose mission is similar to the Keane Foundation's Mission. (The Mission of the Richard M. Keane Foundation is to support, sustain, and develop programs for the community that will offer sports, fitness, educational and recreational programs.)
Community organizations with a program that needs support are encouraged to apply:
